In 1999 my music took a twist. As well as writing songs for myself, I was writing songs for my then band, The Basement Swing. At the same time I was diving into fiddle tunes, old-timey, and the music of Bill Monroe. When not playing with the Swing Band, I was playing this various music around town-sometimes for food, sometimes for beer, and sometimes for the stars. It was a good year. At some point I started bringing my swing tunes to the informal sessions I was having with Jan Peters and the idea for this record was born. Leaving the basement, I found a new home for my swingish tunes in the hands of New York Jimmy and the Jive Five members, Dan, Jeff and Mark along with the Jan Peters.
